I have an ebs td650 head and a proline 4x10 which has a great sound. I am after something that doesnt break my back for small gigs. I do like the sound of a 4x10 so didnt know whether to get two neo 2x10's or something else? Did also think about a combo but just after few ideas really as dont want to spend loads on another rig really but just be good to have something i can fit in a back of a cab if i do a small gig. Ideas?
thanks

Always a fan of the 2x10 and a 15 underneath but my current plan is to run 2 1x12's

I use Aguilar GS12's as I love the scoop with my amp.. it has everything.. It is light and compact...maybe too compact.. it has very nice depth
and the 12" chassis isn't too lacking in range at all..or at least coupled with the easy sounding horn, altho don't run that too much, IMO.

I run the amp flat and the cab scoops the right mids out..although the sound still has oddles of character, and is smooth all the way up the range.
Top cab and I can't wait to run 2 cabs at a very decent sound level

As a standalone cab straight out the box and plugged in...very very impressive so far...IMO.

When I first owned a TD650 I was using two Ashdown Mini 4x8s and sounded great. Not the lightest of small cabs but compact so reasonably easy to transport. I found using just one for club gigs was fine.
Epifani 310UL, EBS Neo 2x12 plus Tech Soundsystem cabs all work well with the 650 I found.

i was thinking maybe 2x10's would be good and having two of them- or 12's- been looking at the markbass cab's but very expensive- dont really want to buy new if can help it as already done that with the td650- think keep an eye out on here for a couple of small cab's

thanks for the advice..
p.s what sort of price do the ashdown mini cabs go for?
Just been looking at the hartke 2x10 cab's- seem that they are about £200 new. Any idea of what these are like and if would go well with the td650? They are half the price of markbass and ebs although they are not as loud but equally as small. Would think with two they should be enough for small gigs?

What you really want is what is in my sig... :) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39253

The 2x10 route is a good route to go down... As a cheaper alternative, try the Warwick 2x10 cabs - they work quite well with the TD650.

thanks for the advice-
anyone used the hartke 2x10's? ebs only do the 110 and 112 in the size that i was looking for for compact cabs- really after something that size

so much to choose!! think will definately keep the 4x10 but be nice to have something lighter and bit of a different sound- what sort of prices do the eden 210's go for? would be looking for a pair- i know one would do it but doesnt seem quite right if the rig is below my knees!!

must admit very tempted by the ebs 112's- so small and compact but loud for such a small cab- how much do these go for new? think be hard to get second-hand

My EBS neo 2x12 is for sale at bass direct - I replaced it with a pair of Bergantino neo 1x12's

been looking at the ashdown cabs-seems quite a few kicking about on here and ebay and dirt cheap new- any thought on these? thinking the 2x10-
think it is a toss up between a ashdown 2x10 and 1x15 (about £350 together new) or aguilar 112- x2 for another hundred quid or so or the harkte stuff- do like the ebs stuff but difficult to get secondhand- also could be the eden nemesis 2x10- not sure if one cab will be suffice- also may seem a bit weird has just one cab that is about 12inches high- may need 2 cabs? also if that low down would have to sit on the floor to change my amp settings!
choices, choices!
ideas?

If you have a cab that short then you'll usually benefit from tilting and/or lifting it up somewhat, otherwise all the more directional higher midrange and treble will shoot past below your knees whilst your ears will just hear the lower frequencies. Most short wide cabs perform better when stood up vertically as well, even if the feet/badge aren't set up for that.
I wouldn't worry about directional placement so much without FOH..you are trying to fill the room so configure the sound for that as much as anything..
I am now thinking about the markbass 2x10 travellor- either that or the aguilar or possibly ebs 1x12
just wondering if i went for the markbass would i be better going for the 4ohm version or the 8ohm? the 8ohm is more expensive but not sure what would be most compatible for my ebs td650 head?

I like the 2x10 from the MB 210 combo.. so if comparable to that then that is a nice cab.

2 1x12's is a nice solution, either Aguilar GS's which are nice and punchy........ and I would think the DB's rate as well...and have that bottom end, or the EBS option sound nice. I haven't use them myself, tho, and a friend loves his Epifanis.

I know plenty of people like a 2x12 so 2 1x12's seem a good carry option, IMV.

Am currently loving my GS12 with a 2x10 on top... but I don't plan to gig that config..
I'll keep 10's with a 15 and the 12 with another 12, ideally. I don't want to mix and match odd cabs..

well finally i have made a decision- i went for the markbass travelor 1x15 with the 2x10- not tried both out yet- a gig will obviously be the ultimate test which i am looking forward to trying them out- only thing is they are bit different in size so not sure how it will all sit together when i get it- hopefully be ok- hope i made the right decision- was also thinking about the aguilar gs route and also the ebs 112's-
time will tell!!

I got very good results, from using two accugroove tri110,s( 1x10. 1x6 and 2 tweeters) with the TD650 i now use those two cabs with an HD350 and still sounds great, id imagine the EBS neo 112,s would be a great match too - all the best - lee :)
