A camera video of 'Bed of Roses' from my new band 'Just Jovi's first gig the other night. Sound is a bit harsh but you get the idea!

Yes, it was the Sterling Andy and - yes, wow, it does sound great! That was the P pickup, just rolled back a touch. Gigged with it twice since picking it up last week and I really couldn't be happier.

Is this whole thread not just a "Look at me, i'm better than you" fest. We play, or I do, music cos we love it, who cares what we look like doing it, especially our peers.
all the people in the video are better than me and fair play to them I love the music but am not bothered that people are better than me

Does that not tell you something then? How many beginners or average players post vids of themselves on here?

Its probably just me being old and British but I have an aversion to showing off. They are all better than me also but frankly who cares what someone looks like playing something? Its music, its what it sounds like that counts. Bah humbug....Nurse, my medication.

You don't gig in a band, then?
Of course, but thats making music with other musicians, and that equals more than the sum of its parts. Its not sitting in a room by myself with a video recorder running showing other bassists how cute I am and how well I can play. But each to there own, just my point of view. There again if you simply want everyone to agree, a forum would be a boring place, would it not?

People have enjoyed watching others play instruments for centuries, if not millenia. It's nothing new or... show-offy (necessarily).
I enjoy watching people of all levels who make music I like.
I enjoy watching people who are better than me, and sometimes I get inspiration from that.
I enjoy watching people who are no better than me and participate in this forum because... I don't know. Because I see their names around and I am curious and they're "one of us" or something.
Quite frankly, the notion of X is better than me or Y is worse than me doesn't even cross my mind.

Hey, you can always minimise the window and simply listen to the audio if you prefer ;)

I already posted this elsewhere a couple of days ago but thought I'd add this in here too.
At last week's gig the owner of the venue was videoing us on his phone and streaming it live to facebook.

Starts with a bit of disjointed footage of the end of Hold the Line but then you get the whole of Boys Are Back in Town and Boys of Summer.

And just to prove it did get busy later on :D

MRTCAT: Was it the singer and bass players night off, or do the drummer and guitarist usually go out with backing tracks and a singer, no bassist?
Sounds good though - I used to do something similar - a duo with me on guitar and vox, backing tracks for bass keys etc and my drummer on electric kit.
He was great - no click track and we nailed it all the time. Sadly I dont even have audio of it, let alone video.

They usually have a girl singing and her fella on bass. They were away that weekend so we stepped in. The guitarist deps for us a lot as our man is pretty busy with his main band so it was a returning of favours type thing.

Aw shucks; t'was nothing (gazes at carpet, hands behind back, twiddling pointed foot to and fro... ) The trick is to use the 'Share' link from Youtube, pasted into the post, then to remove the 's' from 'https' at start of link, that's all. Simple, really.

And the band is fine. Merits better than the auto-volume sound recording. No way of mixing in a feed from the PA..? Good stuff; will go far. B)
