Im gonna be pretty annoyed if I prefer them to the rotosound strings Ive used for the last 4 years as I just got a Rotosound artist deal mind. Does it not stand to reason though that Id get even more growl out of a rail? Mine is indeed a 79 toaster. Maybe I should just save for a rail one, not sell mine A/B the 2 then decide which i prefer. Full sound, harmonics all over the place, deep thud when required, bright and snappy when needed. Lovely to play, brings a smile to my face every time I pick it up. This is one of the more rare "Three piecer" bodies. The "fur" background is is a "lend from a friend" - what he has it for, I'm not sure, Mmm? I think this may even be a slightly rare one, I've only ever seen pictures of one more T40 with the two groups of three screws at the top of the pickguard. hubrad Posted June 4, 2010 Share Posted June 4, 2010 I took the caps off the tone pots on mine (many moons ago) so they just acted as a gradual coil tap. I also got a few replacement pots as they were a custom taper for the T-40.. might still have them in a deep recess of the Projects Box. Great bass, mine was natural and maple neck. If you look at my '79, you can just see the centre section, which is just slightly wider than the string ferrules. Jon's has a much wider center section, which I have never come across before.
