Sanding down an Ibanez..

My Ibanez SR505 is starting to look very boring and i'm thinking about sanding it down and re-spraying it.
It's got a brown mahogany body. Good idea or would it end badly if i tried to do this at home?!

Here's my Ibby.. admittedly I had a more skilled party do the spraying!

I'd say go for it! I did a couple of french polish re-fins a while back .. looked nice although nowt like a high gloss. Much easier though.
