Ok so here it is, I've put another post on here in gearporn but am now putting it officially for sale in the erm sale section lol. Here are some pics for the sec and a bit more info that I've found from Vintage Kramer forum. I'll take some better pics later and post them on here. The bass is in really good condition other than a few minor issues, 3 of the plastic knobs need replacing as they have broken, there is a small chip or mark in the lacquer right next to the control plate on the back and the worst bit but a fairly easy fix is that the 9 volt battery clip wire is broken so taped together as a temporary measure, all it needs is a new standard 9volt battery clip and wire soldering back to the circuit board, unfortunately I do not have a decent soldering iron and am not particularly good at soldering or I'd of done it myself. Any questions please feel free to ask, and anybody genuinely interested are more than welcome to come and try the bass and take a good look at it. I also have the original flight case for this but unfortunately has been kept at my mum and dads due to lack of space and they are smokers. T^he bass plays and sounds beautifully, the only reason I am selling is because I've now got a warwick which is much lighter for stage use and can't see me using the Kramer much now and dont think its right to be sat in a cupboard doing nothing, also I need the space and money for a 6 string bass I've seen. Anyway enough of my waffling, oh price I want for it is £500 which I think is fair due to its rarity and condition.
Nice. I'd take it but I'm trying to get rid of a left handed 450B kramer that's an old family heirloom. One in one out, them's the rules.
Lol same rules for me one of the main reasons for selling it.

Ok so as promised a load more pics of the bass but better quality ones showing the bad bits and the good bits. If anyone is interested and wants pics of anything specific of the bass please let me know.

There's something really insane about this bass IMO, but in a really good way! A fantastic piece of design and engineering and I'm really kind of curious to know how old it is and what it sounds like?

Good luck with the sale.. :)

Its early 80's I believe, the sound is really good with a great range of tones with all those controls. I did some recordings with it in my old band and sounded great on those. Is that your Wal in the avatar, I've always wanted to try one, I love the sound of them only trouble is I'd probably have to sell a kidney or something to ever own one lol.

Cool!

Sound wise, I imagine the Kramer would be not far off from my old 1984 BC Rich Eagle, which had a very similar design in terms of electronics and pick ups.. That was a fabulous bass..

Yes, the Wal is mine; it's a 1979 Pro IIe model and sounds fantastic! Cost me about £800 IIRC 4 years ago but they go for more now (unfortunately)..

Lol and some star shaped glasses like Bootsy, thanks for all the nice comments so far. It's a lot of Bass for the money especially when you consider its all top branded stuff with the pups and hardware etc.
I have a question..... what are all the controls for?

I squinted at the catalogue but couldn't read it! haha!
Ok lol here goes.. 3 Way Activator Mini Switch - Controls which pickup is affected by the 6 position rotary switch. Position 1 (up) activates Rotary Switch with from pickups Position 2 bypasses Rotary switch, Position 3 (down) activates Rotary switch with rear pickup.

Other switch is just a 3 way pickup selector switch so front, both and back.

Chicken head switch is the 6 Position Rotary switch, When used in conjunction with the 3 way activator mini switch, it provides a selection of 6 different tonal choices for each pickup. Sounds like a contour switch.

The 4 knobs are front pickup volume, from pickup tone, rear pickup volume and rear pickup tone.

And last switch is a Rear pickup tone switch/Front pickup tone switch, these switches change the pickups from a deep humbucking sound in the up position to a biting single coil sound in the down position.

Thats what the catalogue says anyway in a nutshell, enough switches and knobs to keep you entertained for hours lol. Bet you wish you'd never asked lol.

Only wish I could afford it... :)

I Believe your right, I think I read it in Bassist magazine when it still existed, and you could actually buy a decent magazine in the UK about basses lol

Yes, I think that's where I read it too and it was definitely Mo Foster:

It doesn't mention it having an aluminium neck but I'm sure I read that too.

Ok I've had a look around, and it seems there's some tough competition at the minute and times are very hard with money etc. With that in mind I'm going to drop the price to £450, if it doesn't sell at this I know I will probably keep it for now and sell to my brother as I know he would love to own it, but ideally I could do with the cash now. As said before any questions are welcome and if you need pics of specific bits of the Bass I am happy to take them, and anyone is more than welcome to come and play it to see what they think.

Unless the BC Rich has an aluminium neck they wont sound alike. Kramers have an amazing boingy piano like tone and sustain for ages.
They are really distinctive sounding. I imagine a Travis Bean may sound similar (I played one once years ago and I'm pretty sure it did!) but they're even more rare. I sold my B450 to a guy who had one - I wonder if he's on here. Lived in London, and didn't want to take the Bean to rough gigs!
Good luck with the sale!
Jules

Beans are GREAT for rough gigs. You can swing the neck round to knock people back, keep playing and know it'll be fine (I saw Albini do just that at the Forum last year).

Have you thought of giving this a shot on eBay? Kramers often do well there.

Lol yeah it is a sturdy piece of kit, I've considered ebay but would rather avoid it, for 1 there's the ebay fees, and secondly I'd want collection only as I wouldnt feel comfortable posting something like this which would kind of limit the market for one, and dont want to risk it not hitting its reserve and then owing ebay money for something I've not sold. I know my Brother wants it and he was interested when it was £500 just he cant afford it for a while so if all else fails I'll just save it for him, but in honesty could do with the cash sooner rather than later.

Never had to do it myself, but I think if you go to your original post and click edit, then full edit, you should be able to change it.
