Brian18242 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 No idea what model this is but it's definitely a schecter bass. I know he was a long term user of Washburn and Jackson basses 3 1 Quote
SpondonBassed Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I like how he's got his lyrics written on his arm 1 5 Quote
Rollin Thunder Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Ive had my eye on a Schecter hellraiser, but bit too much at moment specially for a brand with low resale value. 1 Quote

RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Schecter do have some great basses imho . It’s true about resale value though . Dont know why . Looking at that picture , I wouldn’t have recognised Rick Savage . Perm gone . Looks great though. Quote
Brian18242 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 The bass is not a stock model. Looks rather nice. Quote
Skybone Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) It's the white Hamer Scarab bass that I always associate him playing, from the "Hysteria" era. Edited February 4 by Skybone 4 Quote

I saw the bass on one of the videos that was posted from the latest Vegas residency, I never twigged that it wasn't his usual Jackson though. Mark Quote
LowB_FTW Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Just checking the Schecter website page for listed artists and he's not on there, so this must be a very new development if he's an official user of these now and not Jackson. Mark Quote
Brian18242 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 From memory, I don't think he ever had a signature model. I think Jackson just made a one off custom for him. Looks like schecter have done the same thing. Quote
AndyTravis Posted February 4 Posted February 4 He looks really well and healthy in that picture. nice. 1 Quote

LowB_FTW Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) Found the below just now on Instagram, seems to be a post from the official Schecter Instagram account, from August last year, so not nearly as new a development as what I thought … https://www.instagram.com/p/DNtZoLqZHaV/ Mark Edited February 5 by LowB_FTW Added image info 1 Quote

Brian18242 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 The bass in question looks way better than the current range of 5 string schecter basses 1 Quote

Resale on them is alarming if selling one bought from new. If you're buying used they're one of the best bargains out there especially the neck through Korean ones. The quality of them is as a good as anything but the only way I'd be playing a new one is if I was on the artist roster, and I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. 2 Quote

The Hellraiser with the EMG pick ups and pre amp is £1399 at Andertons. Knock a least couple hundred off that i’d snap it up. I can get the New Ibanez ice bass for £980 (which tempted by) Edited February 6 by Rollin Thunder Quote
Merton Posted February 7 Posted February 7 He had the first Schecter delivered during their US tour last year I think. I’m in Vegas for their show tomorrow so will report back 🤓 2 Quote
Paul S Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Never mind the bass, he is 65 and in unbelievably good shape. 2 Quote
Merton Posted February 8 Posted February 8 It would be cool if he played this or the Scarab again… 2 Quote
Merton Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Definitely playing Schecter; he has the white one and a black one, both with the Hysteria circuits patterning. They sounded great, probably the best bass tone he’s had for a number of years now. Was a great show, their vocals were bang on and the production was immense. 2 2 Quote

joe_geezer Posted February 8 Posted February 8 One of his Washburn's is for sale on Reverb: https://reverb.com/item/73626239-rick-savage-s-def-leppard-washburn-bubinga-5-string-bass-guitar-rs-5020-authenticated I always wondered if his Washburns were off the shelf versions or custom made for him in USA or Japan? I had a Washburn once with Status pickups and it was a ok but very cheaply put together, i took the finish off and it was basically plywood. Quote
LowB_FTW Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Today I have been marked SAFE from having to buy a Rick Savage bass from Reverb. 😂 Mark 2 Quote
