ped Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Hi folks I haven't had this very long but I have found that my Mustang covers similar territory so I don't think I need both. I originally bought this for flatwound strings to get a really nice fundamental tone which this delivers really well. The pickup is all original and has BOTH tone caps installed and untouched, giving a really meaty bottom end. The bass was purchased by its first UK owner in 2000 from New York, and I bought it from him. I have carried out a full setup to get the neck straight (rod works well) and low action. I gave it a clean and nourished the fretboard. I left everything else original - the scratchplate is slightly cracked (they all are!) - it's fine if you're careful when unplugging. Electronics are fantastic - very little noise even with the single coil pickup (maybe because of the tone caps?) It's fitted with LaBella 760FM-S strings (49-109) which feel great. I also have a set of rounds which came on the bass, unsure of the make. I do have a (full sized) hardcase you can have, and even a box, so shipping is an option - but I'd much prefer pickup from York or nearby (happy to travel a bit). It's really hard to capture the colour! I'll try and add some more pictures in different light. Let me know if you have any questions. As Musicmasters go, this is the one to have. My first decent bass was almost identical to this - though in my admittedly ageing memory, it was a slightly darker shade of blue... which was going green. Or had it been green, going blue? Lol On my bass, the pickup was a bit gutless - but I have heard of replacement pickups (I forget the brand). It sounds like the double tone caps is an even better solution though... as you get to keep the original pickup. There are times now, when I wish I'd kept my old Musicmaster (which I believe ended up in Australia). As ever - I always seem to have too many basses.... but this is just a bit tempting - so someone please buy it ASAP 😀 Quote

Those videos are different basses altogether but mine sounds exactly the same. I included them to give a good idea of the sound because most clips of musicmasters on YouTube are horrible. I might record one myself but like I say mine is exactly the same sound as these and he can play better than me! 1 Quote
