ebenezer Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Looking at buying a new amp around the £1000 mark....light weight 800watts minimum, what would you guys recommend? Quote
BassAdder60 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) TE1200 gets my vote Awesome amp excellent dual compressors and tons of head room Not exactly heavy but not a lightweight amp either really EICH T900 is amazing too and that’s very light Edited January 21 by BassAdder60 2 Quote
Bankai Posted January 21 Posted January 21 At bang on £1000 and 800 watts, the Mesa 800D is certainly a contender. 1 Quote
chris_b Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) IMO Aguilar amps take some beating, I've been playing them for over 10 years now, but my replacement list would include Mesa Boogie 800D, Bergantino Forte HP2 and Genzler. Edited January 21 by chris_b 1 Quote
cetera Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Gallien-Krueger Legacy 800 or Fusion 800 Genzler Magellan 800 or Kinetix 800 1 Quote

tauzero Posted January 22 Posted January 22 As the successor to the Tecamp Puma 900, the Eich T900 would get my vote. 2 Quote
Matt P Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Another vote for the Eich T-900, I've only had a couple of hours of practice with mine but it's impressive and will be seeing my Markbass out of the door. Matt 2 Quote
Dan Dare Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The usual suspects will all have a dog in the fight. Don't buy on recommendation. Go somewhere like Bass Direct and try some out. It's your decision which you prefer. 2 Quote
Dood Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Like buying a car, it would be helpful to know what you want from an amplifier. How will it fit your needs and anything that would be a hard-pass. What style(s) of music do you play? Do you favour all HiFi goodness? Completely flat and direct? Raunchy drive, metal or some old school Jack Bruce thump? If you’re looking for all of that then there’s also avenues to explore. Don’t forget also that the speaker cabinet makes a huge difference and battles have been lost either in performance or just taste because the signal chain didn’t play ball. What kit are you using? I’ll post my reviews playlist later, out of the hundreds of videos, there’s a good few amplifiers in there to check the specs of and find something you like. 2 Quote
BassAdder60 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I’m sure you will be very happy with your choice, I know I was ! Great amp 🤟 Quote
