Duroc17 Posted Tuesday at 11:54 Posted Tuesday at 11:54 I’m going to write to the government or the police. That when there is film of a live band - there must be, by law, at least a 5 second shot of the bass including headstock close up. im not unreasonable I don’t expect a caption of what make and year it is, just a proper shot of the bass the amount of time I’ve seen some interesting bass on a video but not seen all of it is criminal yours faithfully Seymour Bass 12 10 Quote
PainInTheBass Posted Tuesday at 12:22 Posted Tuesday at 12:22 I agree. Sounds like a candidate for change.org. What is with camera operators and editors? Who died and made them the arbiters of which musicians and instruments get to be featured? Us poor old bass players are perpetually marginalised. Unless it's Sting, Flea, or Geddy... Maybe we need to step out of the shadows (that area next to the drum kit) and get in front of the lead singer, take control of the stage! Shout "look at me, look at my bass!" 2 Quote

Or when the singer names the band - he has to say … on the (make and model) bass is…(name of bassist, age star sign optional) 3 Quote

Plectrum is a Jim Dunlop XL Jazz III. The drummer is banging drums with sticks; the guitarist is strumming a guitar; the vocalist is singing into a microphone, and wearing a lilac sparkle suit from Top Shop. Buy our album. " 3 Quote

Bilbo Posted Wednesday at 11:13 Posted Wednesday at 11:13 You wouldn't even know there was a bass player present most of the time. As a counter argument, though, all double basses pretty much look the same and there aren't many you can identify by looking at them in a video. It takes the pressure off. Also, for some reason, Jazz performances often feature the bass player intermittently as everyone knows that the bass player is the coolest one in the band. 3 Quote
Boodang Posted Thursday at 06:17 Posted Thursday at 06:17 It seems to me that drummers are having a bit of a resurgence when it comes to being featured in videos (I play drums as well as bass, so narcissistically I quite like that) .... maybe it's because they're not doing statue impressions when on stage performing?! SteveXFR Posted Friday at 17:37 Posted Friday at 17:37 I'd like to add a requirement for a 10 second shot of the bass pedal board, with all pedal settings clearly visible and a 5 second shot of the front of the amp head with eq settings clearly visible. 2 Quote

SteveXFR Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago It will be illegal for youtube to interrupt music videos with an advert. I'm watching Crowbar live, now is not the time to try and sell pantene to me. Yes the dudes in the video could use some conditioner. Sell it to them, not me. Now take me back to the filthy riffs. 1 1 Quote
