Additional Cab Advice for Gentler Nu Classic 2x10 Cab

I'm thinking about adding a second Genzler cab to go with a Genzler Nu Classic NC-210T

I know it's all subjective, but I would like to hear your thoughts on what generally works best with a 2x10 cab.

I have listed the specs of all the Genzler Nu Classic cabs available below.

I will be using a Genzler Magellan 800 Head.

 

NC-210T 

Vertical column design, punchy lows, vocal mid clarity, high end gloss. 

2 X 10” w/Tweeter

Get the same cab again. Whilst different pairings can sound great having two of the same means no need to re-eq if only using one cab, say at smaller gigs or rehearsals. Whereas with 2 different cabs chances are each will sound different on its own.

Another identical 2x10 cab,vertically stacked. That's not a subjective opinion, it's objective scientific fact, and the science always works, whether you understand it or not. 😉

Yep, I would go with another 2x10.

 

Genzler do offer a 15 in the Nu Classic series now, so that may be an option.

 

The 2x12 is an amazing cab. Massive low end and not that heavy either.

Do you have the 2x12 Stu, the reason I ask is because I haven't actually purchased the 2x10 yet, and I'm wondering whether the 2x12 could be a "one cab" solution?

I've owned 2x12 cabs in the past, but I tend to like the tightness of 2x10's.

I have tried the 212T with a 350 magellan head and the fact that the cab is a 4 ohm cab means all the power goes into the cab. If you have the 800 head and like the sound of 10s then I would go with the 10's.

 

The 2x12 would give you however all the power from the 800 watt head.

 

I am looking at an extra cab for my Genzler set up as I am not getting enough from the single Genzler 12.

I used to own a couple of Genz Benz Shuttles 210's which were great sounding cabs, but I sold them and purchased a Barefaced Super Twin as a "one cab" solution, but it just doesn't do it for me, which is why I'm considering going back to 10's again.

There's no such thing.  It depends entirely on how they're manufactured.  Tight 15's and flabby 10's are also available.

What do you want your second cab for?

 

If it's to make your rig louder get another one that is identical to the cab you already have.

 

If it's because there is something missing from your sound with your existing cab, then you have the wrong cab and should sell it and find one that sounds how you want it.
