REDUCED Guild B-301 1978 - *SOLD*
£899

WEEKEND PRICE DROP £799 including delivery to UK addresses

Up for sale is my 1978 Guild B-301 in Mahogany

This was originally finished in white and I didn't realise that until I took the pick-guard off to do a spot of cleaning and noticed the routing was white

whoever did the striping did a good job as I'm sure it was pretty tough to remove from the grain.

Nice stable neck with a lowish action, frets in good shape with little wear. Never had to adjust the truss rod but it moves freely

The knobs are quite recent as the originals were not on it when it was purchased, I think the strap buttons are changed as I have 1 spare that was in the case when I got it

These are wonderful basses made in the states and are quite sought after as they were in production for a short while so don't come up too often. I have the B-302 which has the 2 pickups

and they are tone monsters

Lots of dings and some minor chips but in overall good condition, nice patina on the neck and body

I have flats fitted which to me suits it better but thats an individual choice. I don't have the original case but it will come with a suitable moulded one which I have

I will add more specifics tomorrow, weight ect....

Weight is 4.1kg's,  nut width is 40mm

Superb basses; I used to have a fretless one.    Really individual styling and fantastic build quality; Guild had access to top notch tonewoods in the ‘70’s (as the pics show)

Buy with complete confidence from Brian 👍

I bought one of these (in white) new from the Rhythm House (no I didn't, it was fromA1 music) in Manchester in the late 70s. Didn't really get on with it, so it was moved on at painful loss after a few months.

It sounded great, but it just wasn't for me. Not the first time nor the last time I've been seduced by good looks and ignored the reality of daily life with the object of my desires.

I had one of these.  In fact I went to great lengths to get it as it was a particularly lightweight example.  Absolutely fantastic basses that ooze quality.  The tone from the single pickup is delightful.  Fully open there is an almost Rickenbacker quality to it, roll it off and you are in vintage bass territory yet not Fendery.  They look brilliant.  i was very sad to let mine go but that sticky out flare of the slab body was just exactly where my forearm rests and I found it uncomfortable - but that is just me and my particular way of wearing and playing it.  I'd say the price is fair, too. given the good honest condition.  Most people would pay this or more for a Fender of the same vintage and this is as good/better than most I have tried.  Anyone remotely interested should jump at this as they don't come around that often.

I owned a Guild B301 F fretless..Another regret of mine selling it!!

Brilliant basses these with a wonderful comfortable/slim neck profile..In a World where people pay crazy money for old Fenders and Rick's, this is an out and out BARGAIN! Wish I had the money......

GLWTS👍😃

And now it's mine! This description is spot-on - it can sound very like a Rickenbacker, very aggressive and growly. In fact I happily sold my Rick as the Guild did 'that' tone better, and is a much happier bass to play.

GLWTS, these are glorious instruments.

Always had a soft spot for these - my local shop back in the 80s had a fretless version that was in & out all the time - I think I might've been the only local bassist who didn't own it for a week or two!

Was going to say GLWTS but I see there's no need!

So glad you are still enjoying it, Ben.  It deserves to be enjoyed.

Sorry to usurp the sale thread a little.. I recently sold a B302 due to rationaliation of the collection... I regret deeply every bass i sell and the Guild was truely heartwrenching. These are great bases, total tone monsters... If i may ask a question..

When i bought my B302, the seller had a B301 that he said he's keeping because he prefered the tone.. I said how so, the bridge pick up on the B302 is in the same place as the B301. He said they are not..

Can you confirm please? Is the single pick up on the 301 in the same spot as the BPU on the 302?

... and if not already mentioned... these pups are killer.. and this is a great price for a rare and special vintage bass that kicks donkey.. GWTS

The bridge pickup is in the same position on both, both side by side and 80mm from the bridge.
