Fantastic drive / grit pedal, from a little breakup to some thick distortion. Blend control is invaluable. Level pad switch.

Hook velcro on the bottom. Boxed.
Battery or PSU (EU PSU included FWIW): usual Boss centre negative DC, draws 22mA.

Manual says: "Internal Bypass Mode Switch ... remove the Bass Soul Food’s bottom cover ... When the switch is set to True, its upper position, bypass will be True Bypass ... When the switch is set to Buffer, its lower position, bypass will be Buffered ... The switch is normally set to “True” in the factory". I've never had the back off, personally.
