BassAdder60 Posted January 31, 2022 Share Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) For years when choosing what attire to wear when gigging ( rock bands ) I’ve always worn a T-shirt mainly black of course !! As a returning bass player we do tend to dress smarter I find or have an individual style on stage, ie hats for example I’ve now changed to wearing long sleeved shirts ( making sure buttons are not metal ) and I think it looks more in keeping with mature bass players .. So for you mature gigging bass players have you left behind the humble T shirt for something smarter on stage ? Phil Starr Posted January 31, 2022 Share Posted January 31, 2022 I don't know how universal this is but I get so hot whenever performing, just buckets of sweat and complete over-heating by the end of a set. I'm straight outside at the mid-way break even when it's freezing. I guess it's adrenaline. I'm still a black T-shirt person mainly because I don't have to think about it, other stuff if the band want it of course (I have a fetching all pink left from a breast cancer gig) basically though the rule is as little as possible. Whatever it was you'd want to take it off as soon as you got back. It smelt like you'd been rolling around in a gorse fire, and was coated in a thin layer of tar. Yep, I'm one of those weirdoes that doesn't like short sleeve shirts, but rolls the sleeves up on a long sleeve shirt!
