The Year Is... 1970

I too had the Black Sabbath album - there roadie lived in the flats near me and their white Ford truck was often parked outside.

For me in 1970, a snapshot of music interest was - Free - Fire and Water; Jethro Tull - Aqualung; Ten Years After - Watt; The Faces first album.

This track has what I consider one of Alvin Lee’s best guitar solos - from the album Watt - bass is pretty good as well.

I was not around in 1970, so, I did some googeling and saw that this song got released in 1970. It has one of the first basslines I learned to play and I still enjoy playing it on my 74 P with flats:

One of the first non rock songs I liked - and learned to play early on on the 70s!

I was 10 in 1970. This is the sort of thing I was listening to then, courtesy of my parents ...

To be fair to them, they had a lot of good stuff too, like the Stones, Beatles, Trini Lopez, CCR, Ray Charles, Herb Alpert, Supremes, Elvis. I grew up with some good music.

I was just in junior school when this came out

Soul Rebels is the second studio album by the Wailers, their first album to be released outside Jamaica. The Wailers approached producer Lee "Scratch" Perry in August 1970 to record an entire album, and the sessions took place at Randy's recording studio , also known as Studio 17

Layla - Derek and the Dominoes.

Liked this a lot, despite some of the vocal histrionics from Bobby Whitlock. YMMV.

Clapton is discussed at length on another thread but for me, with one or two exceptions song wise, this is the end of the good stuff he did.
