Me too.  I like the simplicity of it.  One issue I have found is with a recently bought a bass that has a slightly dished/recessed input jack and the bug won't connect properly.  I could get around that with a short extension but most likely won't bother.

Two things to consider about the budget digital wireless systems.

 

1. They tend to be come less reliable in situations where there is a lot of mobile phone activity (i.e. any well-attended gig). I was using one of the better models but decided to stop using it after two occasions where the transmitter mysteriously switched channels mid-song for no apparent reason. Always take a good lead as a back up and have it in an easily accessible place on stage.

 

2. If you use any digital effects you may start to encounter latency issues as the delay caused by the number of AD/DA conversions adds up.

 

I personally won't be using wireless systems until I'm in a position to be able to afford a professional-standard low-latency one that doesn't operate in the WiFi bands.

Got to agree with BigRedX here..

I’ve encountered the drop out problems with my Smoothhound system  a couple of times recently & it’s not much fun at all reaching to plug a lead in,Halfway through a song, in front of 30,000 people at a festival?

I still use my Smoothhound on my pedalboard at pub & club gigs, as I’m unlikely to have interference problems from wi-fi signals & multiple IEM systems.

For my bigger stages/gigs, I’ve gone back to my Sennheiser system..

I had been using an older x2 system ( pre Yamaha / line 6) but unfortunately the transmitter died after 10 years of service across pubs, clubs and large stages across the U.K. and Europe. 
I replaced it with a g30 system, and am very happy with it. No dropouts experienced this far ( although it’s fairly young with me 😉😂)

I’ve used a Line 6 G50 system for quite a few years now, it’s been brilliant and as it works on 2.4 gigahertz there’s absolutely no loss of tone with the signal and no interference whatsoever from any other devices or lighting etc. I tried a Sennheiser wireless system the once and IMHO it did affect the tone. Battery life is really good too, I use Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable batteries in mine.

 

With the G50 the receiver is of metal construction and is very robust. Some argue that the cable from the receiver to the bass can fail, I bought a replacement on EBay and it has been faultless and still have the original cable as well.

 

I understand that other Line 6 wireless systems are available now, not sure if the G50 is still available but well worth getting one if they still out there.
