I'll be interested if they release it as an alternative firmware option for existing ADAM owners. I'd happily pay something for that as an upgrade. Seems very unlikely though.

If this all-digital 5 knob/3 rotary switch format is going to expand with similar B7K and VMT style versions in future iterations, maybe someone will figure out a way to hack them for cross-compatibility or custom firmwares in general.

You could make similar claims about any number of other digital effects pedal series that are out there.   One day they may release a pedal that does it all, at a price to suit, but it wouldn’t make any business sense to make multiple versions available on one device.  The sheer number of people shifting Adams to buy this will tell you that!

It would be interesting if you could buy one physical pedal, ie the ADAM of the photon, and then be able to buy firmware/software packages from Darkglass, which you could then change in the Darkglass suite

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about. People who really want both to use together would still buy both, you'd just have an additional layer of flexibility from each one (at a cost, obviously).

I think maybe down the line a little, it could be good for Darkglass. Not everyone will want to spend £1000 on 2 pedals, but if you could buy one and then a software package to load into your pedal, at a reduced cost to the whole pedal, that could be a good option.

Somewhat surprised that Line 6 seem to have moved away from this approach in recent years.

Cool. I’d only seen the Nicki Tedesco video until today. Be good to see an in depth vid from Darkglass, like the ones Chris Kollias did for B7k ultra etc

It was a joke - aimed at those who think all of Patrick Hunter's demos sound the same!

Was probably a bit subtle!

I'm looking forward to the Nate Navarro demo - he's usually very good with new products.

Amos Heller is the go to guy for DG reviews. His cover so much more ground than the standard fare.

Has anyone been tempted enough to actually pull the trigger yet?

Nope! Have an AO drive on my DG AO 900 with comp and EQ all on tap...ok it lacks the presets that TC have been offering on their RH450 and RH750 for the past decade and the Berg BiAmp has been doing for a few years, and that this pedal is now also offering. But I'll probs be able to muddle along for a while yet.

Be interesting to see if they integrate the presets tech into their next series of amps. And, nope, I won't be upgrading then either! 😉

I think you’re maybe missing the point again (on purpose) of why someone would choose one of these new DG pedals but I get you have all you need in the AO amp. It’s a nice unit.
