What you thinking? Black?

Nah, same hue as the body. However, on reflection, that could look a bit Fisher Price depending on which colour you go for. Hmm, can’t go wrong with black. Oh well, nothing to see here, move along. :(

Well, here’s a close up for ya Ricky - there’s definitely enough depth in there to get a bit of paint in. What you thinking? Black?

Why not go a bit crazy, mask up very carefully and put in some spangly Res nail polish?

I wouldn't trust Ricky's opinion, the colour blind fukkwit.

I've ordered the full set of Crimson Shots.

I've also bought a bargain bag of Ash offcuts from some geezer on eBay so me and the missus can practise and work out the right colour scheme.

In anticipation of these two arrivals, I tried a quick mock up..

I disagree, it's the pups being greenish 🙂

These cream pickups covers are greeny by nature, so there's something likes 5% of magenta excess to become correctly balanced if you look at the knobs.

Derailment over.

Colour difference will disappear if you do a burst finish.

OTOH I think you'e going to fail unless you use a neck shim.

I’ve got a pack of those Stewmac neck shims at the ready, and as I said a neck shim transformed the Shuker, so….

Part 1 of the great wood stain experiment has turned up today.

Having ordered all 12 of the Crimson Shots, my plan is to try different colours at different dilutions, with different combinations, and some multi-colour sand and apply style samples. I'll be able to see what they look like and I can post the various experiments here so others can see as well.

And hence, the big box of Ash offcuts delivered (for a massive £8)

To be clear, I’m looking forward to seeing the results and I’m making myself suitably comfortable for the incoming posts. I’m not here to píss on anyone’s fireworks, which seems to be quite de rigueur amongst some folk recently. I love a build thread.

That's okay. I'm partly doing the offcuts staining for my own benefit, and partly as a bit of BC community service to see what happens!

And we thank you for your impending activities. Obviously we’ll need some creamy plastic additions to make a valued judgement.

I may start without for general consumption, and then add in some creamy plastic for those of a specialist disposition
