Bass Playing with a Click Track

I've used Audacity to create click tracks as varying BPMs, exported them as MP3s and then put them in a "click tracks" playlist on my iPod.

That way, I can create the MP3s with as few or as many bars as I want, and all with existing software and accessories....so no cash for specific gizmos and gadgets.

Good old Audacity, it's a thing of beauty. I'd be a bit lost without it.

how hard can it be to count 1-2-3-4 in a consistent and rhythmic way? (Drummers excluded..and I know this 'cos my brother is one).

I learnt how to do it at music school.

If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.

Depends where you count 1-2-3-4...?
Before the beat, on the beat, or after the beat.
Counting beats aint the problem, its where you place then. :)

My two penneth.

I have the Korg metronome mentioned earlier and on mine at least the output to the headphones is unaffected by the volume control and stupidly loud. Dont get it for in ear stuff it dont work right!

I find a nice hand clap sound far better/less painful than a woodblock or (urrrgh) a blip.
