Looking forward to seeing the new band Dave. Keep us posted if you get a local gig. 👍

Will do Lee. They have done Girdwoods in Wishaw a couple of times but will probably put something up on FB when gigs start. They were playing last night at Dreadnought in Bathgate.

I know they want me to play a gig on 18th Sept in Falkirk but dont have any details. They have a few other requests to play venues but i dont have the details of anything as yet till its all made official over next few days.

On another note i see Nightfly are playing Horse & Jockey soon. That could be a great night but a bit of a squeeze.

I seem to remember my oldest brother, who claimed the title Head Moose of the Whitton punks, and his mates mostly just cut their own hair - and it actually looked like rats had been gnawing away at it.  I seem to remember one his mates later getting a mohawk of sorts but it was more a shaved sides job than the full 6" spiked and dyed job, and by that time I think he was roadying for PIL.

I seem to remember 'Whitton Tony' having a Mohican but I didn't get to know any of the Whitton punks before 1980

Mohicans seemed to be the 2nd wave of punk in the early 80s, the followers of the more hardcore sounds such as GBH & The Exploited. Like anything things move on. Similarly the Oi movement which had punk bands with fans looking more like skinheads, but a rougher image than the crombies and sta-press that were previously associated with skinheads.

There were already mohicans in 1979, but it wasn't common.  I was 16 and had just left school and by this time there certainly was a uniform as such: jeans, boots, leather jacket with 'Adam & the Antz' or something else painted on the back, badges on the lapels of the leather jacket.  Spiky hair a la Sid was more common than mohicans.  Girls had Siouxsie hair cuts with leather jackets and monkey boots.

Nightfly this Friday, with their new drummer, then wee Ted next Friday ( his first gig since his wife passed, so it might get emotional without her there watching? ) and then me on the third of September ( first outing with a new drummer and lead guitarist ), so I better get rehearsing. 🤣

Man , I would love to be in a punk band , but I don’t think it will go down well with the resident pensioners here on the Isle of Wight .

Are you sure? Those of us who were pogo-ing away in the first wave of punk are either pensioners or very close to it. 😂.

But I have to admit I know nothing about the  IoW.

I had no idea Ted's wife had passed. When was that ? I met him in Aldi's just after he bought himself a Range Rover. Obviously we were talking cars at the time.

That's 3 Friday nights i would like to get to. Time permitting i might come down.

Whats your band called Lee.

Eileen passed in May this year, tragic.

As we were all in other bands, this became our second band, so it was decided that after the WhatsApp group of “Band 2”, we just changed to Banned 2.

Would be good to see you and your good lady, any Friday.

Sorry to hear about Eileen. Such a shame. Hopefully Ted was ok. When i met him in Aldi he was with his sister so he's obviously never shopped LOL

Like the new band name mate. 😂

Will try and make one of the gigs.
