The most hilariously bad song I have heard

What’s wrong with this? It’s subtle, understated and with nary a cliche in sight. Music for the thinking man……

….🤮

I'll tell you what's wrong with this. He must sweat to buggery in that outfit. Bearing in mind he comes from Los Angeles where it gets pretty warm. His bandmates must hate being in a room with him.

Not only did the bar book her, there's a sound guy helping to "mix" her sound, although what he's doing for four and a half minutes when all he has to balance is guitar and vocal I don't know. The bar is full and everyone looks to be enjoying the show. I can only assume that  A- It's a bunch of her friends and colleagues. Or 2- the people in that town are as deluded about what a musician should sound like that they actually think this is good. I mean there's a whole bunch of people in the Red Dress video agreeing to take part in something that shows their faces.

Could be that the booked the bar and invited family, friends and colleagues.

Could also be that she paid people to come to her gig. A bit like when David Brent in "Life on the Road" paid his "Forgone Conclusion" band members to go on tour with him and to socialise with him.

I have just realised that it could also be an open mic night. When you get those people tend to be kind to the worst performer just to be supportive.

A quality live version!

This looks like a rehearsal for a full concert I saw on YouTube  a year or two ago. It was to recreate the Shaggs music with the original singer plus some new musicians.

There was also an interview with the band leader / musical director.

The BL said that she got together a bunch of proper musicians and they leaned all the songs as they were played... out of time, out of tune,  mistakes, the lot. Must have been a lot harder than playing a 'corrected' version of the music.

The BL was asked about singer-Shagg's musicality.... "I don't think she hears rhythm" was the succinct response!

Credits from 'Red Dress video below. She does quite a lot of stuff but also has a team of people involved too - presumably earning a living from their work? Let's face it, anyone who's been in that situation (myself included) just shuts up and gets on with the job as best they can. Doesn't explain why her family and friends haven't sat her down for a frank conversation though. 😆

Directed, Produced, Choreographed & Edited by Sarah Brand Director of Photography: Gordon Gronbach Production Assistants: Daoyue Zhai, Antony Mikallou Special thanks to Saint Michael at North Gate Church, Oxford. Special thanks to all of the actors and extras for participating.

Admittedly much butter but still far, far away from someone who can sing properly (without needing autotune). Someone like her:

That's the most hilariously bad song you've heard? Consider yourself lucky...

Nope, this is actually a nice song from a great singer. Wanted to show that Sarah Brand, even with the help of autotune, is nowhere near the level of a singer like Hannah Reid. I chose the live version of the song to show that she can really sing and does not need any tech help. So, it's the opposite of a hilariously bad song. Maybe did not make it clear enough.

You could stop there!

But we know that, this is bad song thread, we have plenty for good songs

I prefer the original. I've gotten kinda attached to it.

Sounds more real, and also when you take away the badly pitched vocals you realise what a bad song it is in general! :D

Amazing how it still sounds sh*t

I can't get over the sheer arrogance of her. The lyrics are so narcissistic it's untrue. The way she prances around in the video in that bloody red dress which isn't even as nice as the white one and not one single line of her obviously pre recorded singing is vaguely in tune. She then goes online and paints this picture of a talented singer, songwriter, actress available for whatever any entrepreneurs would like to pay her for. Cant fault her for trying but she needs a real friend to sit down with her.

The good thing about the internet is that anyone can access it.

The bad thing about the internet is that anyone can access it.

Think of it as collateral damage....

Ok, so thanks to someone posting this in my FB feed, I have not been doing any kind of productive work in the last 2 hours... BUT I think I have figured out Sarah Brand!

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarah-brand-501595188/

First let's look at her LinkedIn. Her work experience includes a lot of research as an intern and assistant for various sociology entities, IN ADDITION to managing social media, writing, editing and directing other music videos and short films, most notably "Rustic and Authentic" which focuses on a misunderstanding on stereotypes.

Website: Sure, you might have found https://www.sarahgbrand.com/ but what about https://www.sarahbrand.com/?

Of course it's a common name, but right on the front page: I graduated from the London School of Economics with an MSc in Inequalities and Social Science in 2017.

It links to her twitter, sarahbbrand..... which seems pretty similar to popstar Sarah's sarahgbrand....

Most notably, this tweet stating her current location and situation: https://twitter.com/sarahbbrand/status/1412832610141708289/photo/1

Now let's compare the profile pics... of course SarahBBrand is wearing a mask, but is facing the same direction as SarahGBrand. Both had hooded eyelids (a very identifying trait - I have them myself, and makes applying makeup annoying). B has plim eyelids, or lower eyelids that appear when she smiles (I have the same.. and apparently is a trend in Korea called Aegyo sal which I find weird because I hate mine, but they add theirs with surgery) and are not visible when not smiling. The ears are tricky to match because the mask elastic is pulling on them, but you can find similarities, and B's eyebrows are thicker than G's but let me tell you about how mine went unthreaded for a whole year...

If you check her youtube, there's a video in which she shares a day in the life of a UCB student: https://youtu.be/ZHZB-gqj9Sg

And it showcases a bit of a funny bone.

Lastly, if she was REALLY a self-aware, spoiled, entitled wannabe popstar- where is all her internet presence as a pop singer prior to May 2021? Her FB page is still a baby.. and while her YT has been around since 2015, she's only got a few unrelated videos on there... her UCB video was made a year ago and she even mentions going to a music appreciation class but no mention of how she loves music herself and wants to be a popstar?

It's an elaborate social experiment, and while I think she's done a great job at executing it.... the Internet will always find everything. :)

No, sorry, there is a winner here. Someone sung this, someone recorded this, someone mixed this, it went past a whole group of people and noone said.. "Hey guys, maybe autotune isn't the devil?"

It actually appears from the structure of the song that she is trying to channel the style of Taylor Swift, but Taylor manages to make it work by singing the actual note, rather than some jazz interpretation of it!

In Ms Black's defence, Mrs_5 was playing this for me on Saturday morning in bed, after much discussion and erudite critiquing of her body of work it transpires that some clever sort on the internet was defending the artist in question with the supposition that she was singing using 'forgotten notes' - i.e. outside of the tempered chromatic scale developed by one J.S.Bach - so C# and Db are slightly different pitches etc...

Apparently it's really hard to intentionally sing like this, not as hard as listening to it is.

Good stuff. I hope you are right and we all end up getting cited in her MSc dissertation. Although, for ethical reasons, she should ask us for permission beforehand.

Don't thank me, someone called 'Lockhartilly' on Reddit did all the mooching around and hard work, I am merely the conduit, and a lazy one, at that 😁

She was "singing" in a crowded bar. Was this part of the social experiment?

Could very well be. Crowded bar filled with stooges or people being told to play along with the ruse sounds plausible.
