Someone found a use for those left over Wharfedale grills then.

Indeed.

The Wharfdales and Albion were made (or at least designed) by the same person (Steve Grindrod). Although Albion were previously a much more boutique amp. The one above looks like it's something cobbled together from leftovers.

Could be a bargain though if it's anything like the Wharfdales. I still have mine (2x10 + 1x15) as my primary cabs. They were an absolute steal, they're still going strong after about 2 years and they still sound great.

Lets be honest the cab design and switching etc are a bit... gimmicky at best but if I'd been offered a 'new' BFO cabinet for £120 when I was starting out I'd have been deaf with a hernia by the age of 20!  Especially if I'd bought 2 of them to get 4 ohms (which I would). :)

Albion BLS610H 6x10 Bass Cab Highlights

  • 4 heavy-duty 10" bass emphasised Albion driers,

I wonder what the two others driers are?

From the manual I found lurking online, it appears that the others are
2 heavy-duty 10" midrange emphasised Albion driers.

I have to say they come across as very capable. As warwick says, if I'd been able to pick up such a cab at this price when I was young/fit/starting out (and this price is the equivalent of £42 back then..! I paid 100 secondhand for my first 4x12 cab and thought I'd got a bargain), I'd have been all over it like a rash.

Only with the Wharfdale branded ones. As I said above. I have found then to be absolutely superb, and great value for money.

It looks like they've now rebranded them back to Albion.

I'm not used to hearing Joe Gore speak, he's always silent in his own demo videos! And the crossover seems a little gimmicky - a horn level switch can be useful, but surely the crossover frequency and midrange phase would have one optimum setting that most designers would just have hardwired.
