Having bought this just before the March 2020 lock down  it has lived in a drawer at home pretty much ever since. An inspection of the attached photos will demonstrate that it looks like it has just come from the shop. Condition is as good as it gets for something which is in theory second hand. For those of you who know how good these watches are then no explanation is needed, for those who don’t please check out Watchfinder’s YouTube site, which shows just about the most informative and interesting videos on watches in general. There are a number of Grand Seiko videos on there.

Suffice to say that even at the RRP of £3500 this watch seems underpriced when compared with equivalents from Omega,Breitling and even Rolex. None of these brands can even get close to the build quality let alone the price point given that these watches are not mass produced they are made in small numbers by a dedicated small team of expert Japanese watchmakers by hand. The polishing is something to behold.

I am only looking to sell this within the UK. I would much prefer that the buyer collects although a meeting can be arranged. If you have any questions please ask away

That’s a pretty ‘Ballsy’ statement to make? Was it in their advertising blurb?

Us watch nerds know there are elements of truth to that statement 👍🏼

No. I have been lucky enough to own watches made by Omega,Breitling, Rolex and others, which makes comparison a fairly straightforward affair. The Grand Seiko is by far the best in terms of attention to detail and finish. It may not have the brand kudos but I know enough not to be swayed by the ‘popularity’ ,marketing and advertising prowess of more mainstream brands. Plus the timekeeping of the spring drive movement far exceeds most chronometer spec watches. That wasn’t in the advertising blurb it’s just a fact.  Rolex is a triumph of marketing and the brand has been cleverly built over the years. They are obviously very good watches, but if you want a mid range steel version you will be forking out over £7K these days, which is mad when a GS Spring Drive Snowflake can be had for just over £5K.
