It certainly was! I was really disappointed when Be Bop Deluxe split but bought Revolt Into Style when it came out (on blue or red vinyl, I think?!) and loved it.

I saw the band at Birmingham Odeon (or Town Hall?) and, again, loved it.

Whilst it wasn’t BBD, it was a definite progression from Drastic Plastic, which I really dug, esp. the more electro moments on the album (e.g. Electrical Language).

For me Bill Nelson is such an overlooked artist and musician…

Still love Modern Music, and Bills solo stuff. Amazing guitarist also….

These two songs defined post-punk for me, Unguarded moment by The Church and Song From Under the Floorboards by Magazine, lovely fretless Ovation in the latter :)

Love that Magazine track. Saw them loads of times back in the day…..

Are you thinking of the band Propaganda? Rather than this which is the song Propaganda by Play Dead?

Something a little different…from Blue Rondo Al a Turk!

Arent they more part of the jazz-pop thing of the mid 80s along with Sade and Animal Nightlife?

Anyone remember this cracking  Peel fave?

Wish Planet Rock would play stuff like this and other bands mentioned on this thread rather than bluddy Foreigner, Styx, Dire Straits, Smith Kotzen etc all the time

Gawd, I'd forgotten about the kind of attempted zoot suit "jazz revival" thing of the period..  seems to happen every few decades or so ;)

They started life quite edgy but salsa/pop, then this (produced by Godley & Creme) and went on to become Matt Bianco….

And here is the Propaganda tune i meant to reference…

Ah, so this is the track, I was wondering, I haven't listened to them that much despite liking them when I did. Having Derek Forbes on bass is always a good thing.

I think we have had some Bauhaus, but this is my fav. Nice fretless bass…

I saw Bauhaus many, many times back when they were in their pomp, some of the early gigs were so exciting, proper possessed madness, extraordinary.
