Done a search on the interweb thing-um-mijig and it seems I share my birthday with ....................... Leo Fender (born 1909 apparently).

Yes, me too. August 10th.

Not actually a bass player although he did invent the thing. 😁

The closest I can find is that one of my favourite basketball players of all time, Magic Johnson, has his birthday the day after me. On Mother's Milk by the Chilis there is a song called Magic Johnson which features a bass player of some description

What..? Not even Cliff Fish (Paper Lace...)..? :shok:

(We can maybe forgive the oversight of Nico Assumpção, a Brazilian bass player, but it would be a shame, as he's darned good. -_- ...)

I tried about half a dozen websites but couldn't find anything for 13th August

Wasn't Ian Whyte, Scottish composer and conductor (BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra), born in Dunfermline on the 13th?

Josh Klinghoffer might be the closest to a bassist on my birthday. Well, he’s played bass, not sure if that counts?

Otherwise, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lindsey Buckingham,  Eddie Cochran, Chubby Checker, Steve Reich and Gwen Stefani.

I’m the same day as you then!

Allen Woody (a bassist I’d not previously heard of) played with Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule would count.

Lori Black, Brent Ashley.

Also: Steve Gadd, Carl Perkins, Gerard Way, Hannah Gordon, Hugh Hefner, Dennis Quaid, Lenny 'Guvnor' McLean, Seve Ballasteros, Jacques Villeneuve, and the god-like Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Also, Concorde 002 made its maiden flight on my birthday so perhaps I could include that on the list?
