Yep! Exactly what I thought about my version - good enough to fill a dance floor, but if the chap above turned up and played it after me, the crowd would realise I'd been bluffing!

I gigged for 18 months before the lockdown with a covers band and I'm equally proud and embarrassed to admit I never learned any of the songs.

Busked each and every one of them.

Like many great tunes, when you really dig into it the bass part is quite a lot more sophisticated than after a casual listen. I’d taken a PDF online and it didn’t sound quite right, but never bothered to get it done properly. This transcription and the playing is absolutely spot on - and shows just how great Nathan East is. Props to the Stingray too - sounds incredible.

I saw Nathan East at a bass clinic at GAK a few years ago. He said he ran through Get Lucky a few times and gave them 3 or 4 bass lines and left them to chose which one they wanted to use. So the finished song could be one take or a mash up of those versions.

Whichever it is, it's just another fantastic Nathan East bass line.

Great work!

What transcription software do you use? I'm guessing you were able to export the score as a video, which is a feature I've been wanting to use for a while!

I use Sibelius to transcribe the notation, I wish it could export the score as a video!!

I export the transcription as an XML file, import it into Soundslice and sync it to then sync from there.  There’s a few more steps after that too. I might actually do a video on it. Would that be useful?

Ahh soundslice. I’ve seen a few other people use it. Thanks!
