Workshop build..Scavenger style

Hi, those of you who have followed my builds here and on guitarchat will know that I specialise in reclaimed materials. This will be no exception.
I moved to Dorset last March and since then have been working in half of my mother's shed. During the first lockdown I build this summerhouse/shed pub almost exclusively from reclaimed materials (I bought some decking planks , roof felt, insulation and used about 3000 screws) but everything else was reclaimed and recycled.

Now I'm building a workshop (no idea why this is underlined BTW) I've been hoarding materials during the winter and we've removed a clapped out shed and green house from the site . Today I put some bits of wood on the ground to get an idea of what I'm dealing with. I've laid out an 8'X12' rectangle but I may swing it out from the hedge and enlarge it a little. I won't do much more until the next batch of materials arrives but I wanted to make some sort of start.

The first thing I will make in the workshop will be a time travelling De Lorien so I can go back in time and persuade Washburn to pick a different name for their bass. 🙃

I think I've got a spare flux capacitor in my bits box if its any good 😁

I'm making great progress, I'll be finished in two shakes of a lambs tail.
We were hand rearing these two and they were eager to help out. They are back at the farm now. 163062272_4062012683822990_7544305502326480706_n.thumb.jpg.c9e5fe3f2560c05b827a083ee2312c1d.jpg
Back to the build..I've been given a load of shed parts that were made to be used as storage units in a warehouse. They were supposed to have flat roofs ....the manufacturers built them with flat roofs  but only 5,6" high. My boss bought them at a discount and ordered replacements. After three years getting in the way he gave them to me! For the base I've made a timber "raft" that sits on 12 individual concrete pads. This will be enclosed by a skirt of decking planks.

Hopefully it will stay up until I get a chance to carry on later in the week.

Thought this was going to be a Washburn style bass, built in  a workshop :(

I thought exactly the same. My first bass, bought new in the early 80s. Lent it to a mate 10 years ago and literally got it back last week. Always liked the shape even though it weighs a ton 😄 Good luck with the build Doc Brown 👌

Be careful of vermin with a void like that underneath

you might want to fill it with hardcore or some such

The floor will go in last so I may lose  some junk under it. The area I'm using had a plastic shed with a floor that sat directly on the ground and rats burrowed under it.

Fill the voids with hawthorn!  Old school!

Or electrically heated boiling tar. You can get tiny spears to mount their blackened heads on in order to discourage the others ....*

Have you got your neck angle correct? The bridge and bridge pickup look awfully tall.

Probably not..but it's what the plans appeared to show, I'm not too bothered as it's nice to play, the only downside is that it's on the limits of adjustment. Not bad for a first attempt but I will adjust my routing jig if I ever make such a thing again.
It also looks tall due to the type of pickup mount, I may swap them for something like this:
