Here are the actual bass tracks from Michael Jackson’ “Get On The Floor“ master tapes. Bassist Louis Johnson recorded the main track with Music Man bass. He overdubbed his part with Alembic Series 1, which he used in recording sessions during that period. I can tell that both tracks were used in the final cut. However, I don’t know the proportions in the mix.

This is great, thank you for sharing! I transcribed this a while ago and always struggle to play the damn thing cleanly at tempo so these are a huge help.

(if you have access to any other stems from Off The Wall for bass or any other instrument I'd be very keen to hear them...)

sounds like he gets more of a scooped tone from the alembic and more mid poke from the mm ... nice full sound together

Thanks for sharing this. I always thought there was some kind of chorusing on this track and now I understand why. It’s really interesting the lengths people went to back then to get good sounds - it’s a lost art with plugins these days.
