No you would not. I have a 36" Scale Overwater 6. It is not a 30" flyer, obviously, but the extra length is not an issue. And the TONE! This one for sale is a monster, monster instrument.

What the extra string on mine does to my mind is another thing but that would be derailing this thread.

That's a lot of wire!  You're right though, just use simandle (1 2 4) further up the neck.  I've always been a 1 2 3 4, 1f1f player on electric; so would take some getting used to.
