Pretty rare American made G&L L5500

I think this is a better bass than the more common L2500. What distinguishes the bass is that it has EMG pickups.

Overall in good condition with a small amount of buckle rash to the rear and the black anodised 6 bolt neck plate has worn through to the metal beneath

At 10lbs exactly not a heavy fiver. Serial number B000742

Serial number is somewhere between the one Machines has/had and is a ‘95 and my own which is a ‘96. For those who don’t know about this model it pre-dated the L-2500 which didn’t go into production until ‘97.

I read somewhere that there were approximately 400 or so of the L-5500 built which would make it a fairly rare model.

Yes this was G&L’s second five string - the first being the L5000 which was pretty much an SB1 with five strings - as a result the neck was quite narrow

I was wondering how much a bass with similar spec and an "F" on the headstock would cost in comparison.

A lot more I suspect which makes this, at under £1k, a real bargain....
