Suggestions for computer speakers

Hi all,

I’m thinking of updating my M-Audio 2.1 computer speakers, I like the separate sub woofer and it kicks out plenty of bottom end but I find it a bit too muddy at times.

I have always liked the look of the Bose Companion 5 or 50 but the lack of Bluetooth is perplexing as that is kind of essential these days.

Desk space is also at a premium right now too.

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

Not really, pretty much just for listening whilst working and playing along to - hence why the sub is good!

If you need to do serious monitoring, it is Genelec.

If you want to listen to music/radio/YT in the background, maybe you can consider something else. But not plastic toyboxes that cost like £20.

Yep - definitely not for monitoring or reference just enjoyment. Was really interested to see if there was a popular solution, as seen soundbars and all sorts of other ideas.

Ik Multimedia Iloud micros - tiny but with a decent sound and bluetooth.

Buy a good set of speakers without inbuilt Bluetooth and just plug in a Bluetooth receiver!

Of course, with most normal desktop speakers, you’d then lose the ability to have a computer or other device plugged via a wired connection at the same time. If that’s essential, I’d look at something like this: https://www.andertons.co.uk/kali-audio-mv-bt-high-resolution-bluetooth-receiver

Why is the lack of Bluetooth perplexing?

IME Bluetooth adds a very noticeable amount of latency to the audio, which will make watching videos a seriously uncomfortable experience.

 

If you need to synchronise audio with video or audio from multiple sources, Bluetooth is to be avoided.

Maybe try looking at acoustic energy aego's, you should be able to get the earlier version off evilbay if you want to save some cash, I've got some, pretty good for music replay, decent sub.
