How Low Can You Go?

Recommended Posts

Touching on our heritage as part of the violin family. This bass goes too low to even hear!

Dont see the point of building an instrument with a 16hz note that no one can hear.  Perfect for metal

Weird looking 3 string thing.  Even Jaco needed 4

A bass that can't be heard? Many soundmen achieve that without any new instrument developments 😀.

We don't 'hear' an earthquake, but its effects are often spectacular. :|

Some nice invisible artwork on the walls there, too!

That's an incredible sound, though. Soft, comforting, and melancholy, but with a menacing rasp to it. Being a bit of a nerd I have studio monitors for my TV, and even on those, specced to 80hz, it gives a great sense of 'bigness'. I'll run it through the studio ones which will do about 45hz, and then, of course hook my Big Twin II up to YouTube and really give it a rumble, though even that only claims 30hz.

Even a video of a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace put me in mind of a kind of Sunn O))) on hurdy-gurdy vibe. Very cool.
