Ashdown RM800 EVOii

I have the RM500 and it’s a great amp. Great eq options, very powerful. Am probably similar to others in that the RM is backup to my ABM600 but in rehearsal rooms - when we’re allowed to of course - there isn’t that much difference in them.

Yes it’s virtually the same amp

It was nearly  the same price as the RM500 so I thought the extra headroom is worth having

For the most I will be running it at 8ohms with the PF115LF cab ( 400W )

Nice , 👍, I run mine through markbass 15s , but lately I’ve had an itch to get an Ampeg cab

Just ordered the RM800 head as the price was a great saving

Ive used Ashdown in the past and was impressed

Any users on here ??

If you dont mind me asking, where did you order from?

Cheapest I've seen just now is from PMT at £549.

I'm quite interested in these myself.

Ok NAD !! It arrived this morning and a quick test with the Ampeg PF115LF cab

First points this is very much louder than the Ampeg PF800 in my opinion

EQ and tone adjustment is also better and I found very good tones quickly, the shape button alone gets you nearly there.

Fan is very quiet and build quality is good

Looks good visually sitting on the Ampeg cab so may keep cab ( it’s a great cab )

Input VU level at first looks like it does get close to the red zone unless you max the input but it becomes apparent that the input level rises also as you boost EQ settings etc, on my PBass passive input set around 1pm was about right

I think this is a great lightweight head and think Ashdown have got this line of amps spot on.

I would imagine the RM500 would of also been loud enough for me but seeing as the price was virtually the same it was a no brainer really

All features seem to work well, compressor ( ok but I tend not to use ) Drive nice if used in moderation and the lovely SubHarmoniser again if used on low is great

The only thing I guess I had the ABM115 Ashdown cab but that’s only from a matching look reason  !

Just a note .. mine came minus the mains power lead, quick email to Ashdown and service has posted one out !

I had an old lead to use in the meantime

Not sure if they forget to put them in the box but not a problem

Will be trying it this afternoon further and enjoy the great sounding amp

Doesn't say on the GAK site as far as I can see, but does it come with a case?

👍

Mine didn't. I did buy the little fleece lined bag for it that opens at both ends for access, so I don't take it out of that now.

Where did you get the bag from muppet

From our friends at Ashdown HQ.  Once I bought that, I though I really should buy an amp to go in it, else it would look silly, so they got me on that too.

That was an expensive trip, seeing as Guy was servicing my ABM600 for free.......
