Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 600 - D.I & speaker load for recording?

Evening all,

I've recently acquired the aforementioned amp (After years of wanting one!) and it's truely stunning in every respect. The quality of tone FAR surpasses any other amp I've used to an almost laughable degree.

I've began recording with it using the D.I (and beautiful the D.I tone is too) and have noticed a strange quirk in that the output level of the D.I seems to be linked to the actual output level of the master volume? This means that I have to attach a cab and crank the volume to get a decent level through my audio interface, which as you can probably guess, isn't good for my poor neighbours.  Anyone know if this amp can be used without a speaker load attached? The fact is a hybrid tube head seems to muddy the waters on this.

Many thanks in advance!

Yes, due to the architecture, the DI output (post) is also post master volume.

Yes, you can operate the amp without a speaker attached.

You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you so much!
