Musicman Stingray prices

Recommended Posts

BTW, I checked the MM site, and they still offer the FFA Sterling model in a few colours. Sorry my previous post was naming it as a historic model.
Something tells me it now looks a bit different than the original one, but I may be wrong again.

I seem to remember people saying it was MM's "Jazz" if the StingRay was the "Precision" - probably due to its neck.

I'd read up on it before ordering, as I think it's a more divisive model than the StingRay - though not as divisive as the Bongo.

If it is a Stingray OR Sterling and it has this legend on the back of the headstock then it is the 'proper' USA version and not any of the confusing lower spec models... which might or might not be as good as the USA version!  :)

Unless of course it’s a Stingray Special which is made in the USA but has a different logo on the back, just to cause more confusion!

All the instruments since 2015-16 have that logo - to do with a change in the law in the US (California) at the time meant that because elements like the tuners not being made in the US or California prevented the previous logo being used.

Easier to look at the front of the headstock? Old Smoothie 40th Anniversary - 2016

Aha, I didn’t realise it was across the board. Every day’s a school day 👍

Have a look at the parts on ebay too.

Not unusual for a Stingray neck without tuners to sell for quite a bit above £500. I suppose they are just rare as EBMM won't sell them without first receiving the original one back.

I've seen a nice 20yr old full fat US MM Sterling with matching black headstock and piezo , up for £1200 . So even the Sterling prices appear to have risen - and I don't really know if it's a valid price or not .

I suppose all MM prices have gone up .

Trouble is , like most who've seen and liked the new ones , and would like one , but lack the 2K ; they're now looking for a really nice 2nd hand one .

Maybe this has contributed to pushing the prices up?

Selling stunning Stingray Special bass. This piece is in mint conditio with plastic fill still on the pickguard.
Bass is from 2020 new, with lovely roasted maple neck, is super light and very nice sounding.
I am looking for Spector 4 Strings Euro LT so trades are welcome.

      Hi all,
For sale is my excellent 3 band EQ Music Man Stingray HS bass with great sounding MM humbucker but also a single coil jazz pickup and 5 way selector switch. This set up gives the player lots of great versatile tones and also the opportunity to blend the tone of the MM humbucker with the jazz single coil- which sounds beefy! I bought this new in 2008, as it has been well maintained and looked after during that time it is in very good condition. This bass is awesome and a rock-solid performer so I will be sorry to sell it but needs must, as they say.
A recent browse through the Ernie Ball Music Man website indicates that the HS Stingrays don't seems to be being made any longer so also a rare instrument. The photos don't do the beautiful ash body justice and everything else about the bass lives up to the level of build quality and performance that you would expect from a Stingray bass. Also included is a Music Man hard case which due to the fact that I have used a gig bag, has never been properly used so is in as-new condition.

I am based in Brighton and would very strongly prefer the buyer to try out the bass in person and collect but I could be open to a meet up within the South East within a reasonable distance.

Sorry no trades please as I need the money and space in my flat. Christmas will soon be here so treat yourself!!
