Elixir strings on a (rosewood) fretless.

Hi everyone. Can I please get some opinions about Elixir strings on a fretless rosewood board? (1) Do they offer more protection from wear than normal roundwounds, and (2) do they have the brightness of conventional roundwounds (like D’Addario’s)? I’d like to stick with roundwounds. Any recommendations or insights would be great. Thanks.

No experience with fretless but the Elixir rounds, both steel and nickels are plenty bright enough. Not quite as crisp & shrill when out of the packet as uncoated, think after a few hours of playing. And from there they retain the sound much better, my most played bass at present has had a set of nickels on it since around Jan and there’s plenty of zing/life left in them. I have the steel rounds on a Precision and the nickel rounds on a Jazz, both rosewood boards.
