Were the Damien Hurst finished ones not built by flea’s bass tech?

I think the prototypes were luthier made jobs, and had LP musicman style pickups and Aguilar pre’s.

The mass produced ones were made (I think) in the same factory as AXL/Johnson branded basses...and weren’t great.

The one in the Bonham's auction has a surface mount output, cheap pup (not LanePoor) and 2 controls rather than 3... it looks like a mass produced jobbie to me.  :(

So it’s down to the Damian Hurst paint swirl...think they were originally done as a series to auction off for The Silverlake Music School Flea set up.
