I know such populist Radio 2 stuff isn’t for a lot of people on here, but there are some great live performances to enjoy. I’ve just watched the Sheryl Crow one, which is superb. She plays guitar, Wurlitzer piano and also bass on one song. Her (somewhat reduced) band sound wonderful. Also saw the Tom Jones set. Again, his usual faultless performance (80 years old FFS!) and a great band including Dave Bronze on bass. Like a lot of people I’m getting increasingly worried about the current situation, and how long it will be before my band can get back to work. It’s going to be a long winter, that’s for sure. Am looking for a job to tide me over, but they are pretty thin on the ground up here. Still, am starting to go through my stuff and sell some guitars and associated items to help out with the finances - it’s quite therapeutic! I did hear the Erasure tune though, and I'm impressed with how good Andy Bell's voice still is. When you consider how dodgy some peoples' pipes become as they age (I know my range certainly isn't what it was 30 years ago), his are still sounding great. The bassist is Robert Kearns, been with SC a while I believe. Last year at Glasto he used a fabulous looking Reverend Rumblefish which (again!) sounded brill. Must admit I did miss her other amazing guitarist Audley Freed. He and the brilliant Peter Stroud work so well together. Think the band a great job with a cut down line up though.
