Beautiful Czech-made Spector 5-String from the early days of the Czech factory. I don't know a great deal about it as I bought it second-hand from the Bass Cellar in Camden a number of years ago, but as far as I'm aware it is a 1998 or 1999 model. There is a 4-digit serial number in the cavity (1385) and the Spector website says these early models cannot be dated from the SN.

EDIT - sound samples here:

Looking for £1000 £800 ono . In terms of trade I’d be interested in a Japanese Les Paul custom, eg burny/greco/tokai.

Will ship at buyer’s expense to the UK. If I find someone who is interested I’ll make appropriate arrangements to get it shipping ready, including sorting out a hardcase - i have no need for a hardcase  unless there’s a buyer so it’s a little chicken and egg!

It is from 1999, a fine example from the short transition period from SSD to Spector.  The design is stil the same as the SSD (Stuart Spector Design) NS-5CR as it has 34" scale and dot inlays, but it already has the Spector and the double S logo on it.

These are great basses, I used to own one from the same period but that was black and didn't have this gorgeous flamed maple wings as yours has.

 Good luck with the sale!

I could Be wrong! But I'm sure this bass used to belong to crazy Kiwi who used to frequent this forum a lot.

The pickups were wizard and IIRC he installed a Knoll preamp. Maybe try messaging him!

In fact if it's the same bass,It's in the Spector Thread in Gear porn section. Go to the first page and a few posts down. Tells how the Wizards were custom units and a Noll pre was installed.

If I had The cash I'd be definately after this as I love Spectors 😁

Hah!  Yes it was mine.  I put those switches in.  Sold it via Bass Gallery in 2015.  Really nice sounding bass,  great bass for rnb, gospel,  pop or dance. Anything you might use a Smith for... in fact Aaron Armstrong might make some Smith voiced pickups for you.

My other Spector had a Noll,  this one had an East U Retro but I reinstalled the original EMG pre before parting company.  This has the older,  fatter neck on it.  Feels really comfortable for anyone with large hands.
