Hi there!

I am member here for more then 10 years and bought/traded some basses from/to UK/EU in those years. Noticed some people from UK are not selling basses to EU anymore due to some new rules.

Are there any new laws regarding buying/selling basses between UK and EU? Has somebody any experience with this? Anybody here paid customs fees?

Thanks!

Until 31st Dec nothing has changed regarding UK/EU transactions. There aren't any custom fees to pay.

I can only assume that it is finding a suitable carrier to ship a bass could be the issue. Sellers would prefer a face to face transaction.

No change yet, but new rules planned to come in to effect at the end of the year. What these new rules are is anyone's guess.....

Not forgetting all the ambiguities that surrounded the CITES regulations, and obviously carrier's reluctance to transport items which could potentially be against the reg's, not to mention any fines that they'd incur and insurance claims they'd face.

I believe that these are now lifted for musical instruments, but I suspect that there's still a fair deal of ambiguity from the couriers.

There are no real 'new rules', yet, but some people have always been reluctant to ship abroad because of perceived (real or not) potential trouble dealing with the aftermath if a parcel goes missing (insurance etc). There are no customs fees, yet, within the EU and the UK is still working on EU rules pretty much.
