Turning Active to passive?

So I got this cheap SX stingray copy and I think the pre amp Is knackered as the bass and mid sweeps dont work.

Rather than spending silly money on a new pre amp can I make it passive and if so what controls will still work?

How hard Is it to do? (I'm crap at soldering)

Bass, middle and treble or just volume?

Cheers for any help.

Artec are decent pre-amps, for the price but don't have an active/passive option. You can't have passive Bass/Middle/Treble. Passive controls only "cut", so you could have Treble/Bass cut.

If you aren't keen on soldering, drop @KiOgon a message, tell him how many holes you have to fill and he'll come up with a solderless loom.

The simplest option is to remove everything between the pickup and the output jack except the cable. If you (really) need any on-board adjustments, then you may consider switches (tone, on/off...), pots (vol, tone) and so on.

I'd contact @KiOgon. Tell him what wires you currently have coming from your pickup, what passive controls you need (vol, tone, blend etc) and I'm sure  he'd be able to make you a solderless loom to suit your needs at a very reasonable price.
