35" scale bass strings

Best check how long you need the string to be first.

I had a B string that only just made it over  the nut by about an 1/8th of an inch! DR strings and NYXL's are fine but that set (can't remember the make) was a close call.

GHS Long scale plus certainly fits, and D'Addario long scales fit even my 36" fretless. There's only one "but": some basses have bridges with string through body or similar system, which may take that crucial fraction of an inch from the string length and you may have an issue there.

My bridge is top loading only. Definitely not string thru body. Ernie Ball long scale winding length is 37.25" and goes to just beyond the nut before it tapers. Would that be ok for me

As long as the string reaches the nut before the silks start, you should be fine. I don’t consider string taper to be an issue personally.

In my experience, the following strings are all fine for 35” scale basses:

D’addario EXLs

Dunlop Flats

Maruszczyk Nickels

Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats

Dingwall Medium Scale strings (medium scale for Dingwall is long scale for everyone else)

Thomastik Infeld Flats

I've had TI flats on two different 35" scale basses with top loading bridges, both fine but the maruszczyk with the zero fret needed the silks cutting back slightly to fit into the nut - fine to the zero fret though.

Had D'addario NYXL on as well, no problem.
