I got about two minutes in before I switched off. What an annoying nasty pasty!

I typed the original swearword of ladies front bottom just to see what the filter would come up with. I love the sweary filter 🤣

I wasn’t aware of that particular metaphor - that’s in my head now 😖 😛

A plank of wood with 4 nails and strings attached would be to good an instrument....what an awful racket, I can't see why guitar companies endorse such clowns, he's never progressed as a musician, as you can tell i'm not a fan.

He binned the two redundant strings.

Certainly is a racket. That's why I love the Ramones, anyway.

Fu$k the haters!

Rock'n'Roll Radio is an utter classic (and the bassline uses all four strings!!)

And Rockaway Beach.

CNot at all influenced by the fact I spent about six years of my life known as Joey due to a certain resemblance...

That says fusk?

And you look like Joey Ramone? That's tough.

I don’t believe that’s Dee Dee playing bass. According to him they all fell out (with each other and Phil Spector) and flew back to New York without actually recording anything. Joey is apparently the only Ramone that played on that album.

I don't like the Beatles. I just can't stand their songs but I do realise that they were hugely influential towards other bands and I respect that others love them. I wish other people would realise that some bands might not be their cup of tea but have made a real name for themselves and made ground breaking music. The Ramones were one, Rush, AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan to name just a few others. All bands or artists that have influenced other bands, yet are disliked by many.

Opinions vary. I think that the band were trying to distance themselves from the commercialised smush like Baby I Love You.

Some people get upset when those they feel have less talent but greater success than themselves get praised.

the way I understood it was Johnny was the first to jump ship after Spector made him play one chord over and over again, but according to most of  the band (not Dee Dee, who was prone to exaggeration, or poor memory because of the drugs) they all played on the basic tracks except Baby I love you, then left it to Spector and Joey to finish it off, how much of their playing is left on the finished album is anybody's guess

But how do you define 'talent'? To some, it's who can play the most notes in a second, to others it's creating catchy, memorable songs.

Rock N' Roll Radio is a good example. Now, I like Dee Dee has a bass player. He showed up did his job and did it well. Rock N' Roll Radio has a bassline that is not very Dee Dee like. The bass follows the melody instead of sticking to the usual root notes. Dee Dee wasn't really known for adventurous bass playing so maybe someone else ghost played on that track? Dee Dee could still play that line live with no problems.

Totally agree, just because someone can't play complicated musical pieces doesn't mean they are not talented. Being able to come up with a hook line that is catchy and gets peoples attention is talent in itself. Look at Kiss. Arguably they are not the best musicians in the world but they have produced more hit songs than most. I grew up with Kiss and The Ramones, AC/DC etc. None of these bands could be described as technically incredible but all came up with amazing songs which have stamped their place in musical history. As I  said before, I don't particularly like the Beatles but I would love to have been able to write just one of their many hits.

I’ve heard that too. And yes, how much of Dee Dee’s book/memories actually happened as he said is debatable.

I have no idea of Johnny played on this record or not. He certainly didn’t play on the later albums.

I think Johnny played all the power chord stuff - he definitely didn't do the solos!

really? I didn't know that, where did you hear that, there's no hint of it where he asses all the Ramones albums.

Like @ClassicVibes says they got someone in to play the solos, when they did Chasing the Night on the Whistle test they just missed out the solo 😂.

Well for the people who get upset, it's down to how they choose to define talent...

But seems he DID find  way to play it on two strings 🙂

It doesn’t sound like him. His playing is very distinctive.

Plus some friends who worked with Daniel Rey tell me that he played all of the guitar on the albums that he produced.

As Johnny saw himself as a businessman rather than a musician it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he found someone who could play the guitar so he didn’t have to.
