Thanks to lockdown, I might even get something written myself this month! Imagine that. It's been too long.

Here is my contribution to the April 2020 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by the previous winner: Fingers211..!
Something a bit jaunty for blowing away the cobwebs of current affairs, with a sort of Gaelic/Celtic bent in there somewhere. Good for dancing to, too, if the fancy takes you. Go on, there's no-one looking.
All Kontakt instruments, save the fine Ruby bass.
Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.

Well in Douglas , not yet listened as I haven’t got mine sketched out yet , having said that I am a touch confused.

being the way I am , I learn shed  loads from this challenge , and one thing I do is try and research the photos.

today I have learned that heathers tend to flower in the autumn in the UK  , and while I suspect that spring is on the mind , I am perplexed.

Being as such, I fear the denominator in this is the countryside , and that to me screams either folk or ...er ...country

scary stuff 😓

What..? Are you trying to tell me that it's no longer Autumn..? o.O What happened..? Where are we now, then..? Have I slept so soundly :$ ..? Serves me right for not owning a watch, of course. What's that..? Watches don't tell the seasons..? Of what possible other use could I have for one, then..? 9_9
Anyway, the important thing is... Is it safe to come out yet..? Have the waters receded..? What about the Strontium 90 levels..? We were told they'd stay high for ... Well, even longer than that, and that Mother's Milk was already so contaminated as to addle the brains of the next generation or two. Did that happen, then..? :/

Confused, of Norwich.

Ah man , you have the time wax lyrical, look at things differently, generally openly , keep your own time , and have family close.

I overlook some stuff granted , but at the moment I have time, I hope to use it wisely, this is all.

Who are you..? What have you done with Lurksalot..? If it's a ransom you're after, be aware that I have little of value. I'm calling @fleabag, he'll get this sorted out, double time..!

(And if we don't hear from Lurks himself in the next 24 hours, you'll be hearing from @Teebs, so be afraid; be very afraid. >:( )

Well Lurks and Douglas, you are indeed  correct. Even on Dartmoor the heather flowers in Autumn, and yes it is Dartmoor.

It's the view looking s'easterly from Hay Tor to be precise, which is 15 minutes by car (10 by Triumph and as long as I like on dirt bike!), from our front door.

There's no hidden message (or is there?) in the photo, (ie we won't be out till autumn), just a gentle picture after last months noise !!

There you go; I knew it..! It's Autumn, and Fingers proves it by taking photos from his front door with his Triumph..! Yah..! Boo..! Sucks to you, you false Lurks, you..! Shame on you for trying to fool an old man that he's overslept (or under-slept; I'm not really sure any more...).
Where's that nice lady with the pink pills..? Should I put my pyjama trousers back on..? Why is that light always on..?
(shuffles off in worn slippers, bumps into armchair and looks with puzzled frown at his shins...)

Houston, we've had a problem here !!

My old Acer laptop has decided I no longer need a screen or audio to produce any toons.

I've managed to get some of the  stuff onto an external drive. Unfortunately, when I started this malarky 5 years ago, organisation wasn't (& still isn't!) a strong point. A lot of the  licenses are on old deleted e-mails, the dill extensions are all over the shop, blah ,blah, blah.

Suffice to say, a new computer has been ordered and we start from scratch.

When I find the piece for this month, it will be posted as is !!

Happy tooning all ..

This is scary stuff

It is on my list of things to be worried about , I know I will need to be doing a new computer install at some point , but I am so hoping it goes relatively smoothly.

good luck with it , hope it goes well

Most folks perform a back-up of their important data regularly, especially after they've previously lost stuff from failed disks, theft, floods or fire (other catastrophes are available...). What form this back-up takes varies; one method is to have an identical hard disk plugged into a USB port, for instance, and have the whole of one's disk contents copied onto this second disk, to make an identical copy (a 'clone'...). There is software to do this, which will depend on what System your information is stored, but the process is the same.
Another method is to have a second drive plugged in, and copy by hand all the information needing back-up. I usually define this as being any data which cannot be bought nor replaced. For information such as access codes, license n°s, important serial n°s and such, it's not a daft idea to have them written down (OK, printed out if one is that way inclined...) onto paper, to be stored away in a safe place (and not forgotten about or thrown out..!).
It all depends on how much one values the data. Try, as a test, imagining the total loss of the computer (stolen, dropped overboard, burnt to a crisp...), and estimate what would be lost. If the answer is 'Nothing', no need for back-up. If it's uber-important that nothing be lost, consult a specialist and act upon their advice.

Hope this helps. :friends:
