how do you play? I play finger style and find that the edge of slab bodies dig in to my arm :(

You should be ok if you play with a pick, or have longer arms than me :)

I pluck rather than pleck

I haven’t found it a problem on other slabs but I do agree I prefer the contours of the 54 reissues like the sting

I regularly play an Epiphone Jack Casady which has no edge contouring - I have an elasticated wrist band (sweat band) which I pull up my arm to where it makes contact with the edge of the body.  Probably looks goofy as hell but I find that helps with comfort.

This guy has fitted a (not entirely sympathetic) thumb rest ...

I don’t think it’s a slab body, pretty sure it’s not.

I do miss the one I had.

I didn’t appreciate the pick uo

qualities when I had it, and it’s also a prime bass to mod IMHO

I have one of these. Gorgeous bass but I just can't do with the pick up. It doesn't sound dirty, it sounds farty. I would like to swap the pick up with something else.

These are the Fender Fideli'tron models I think? I had some in a Coronado and I replaced them with TV Jones Thunder'trons. Bloody expensive though.

So how did the Thundertrons sound? Do you think it would be a decent enough replacement for the Fidelitron?

I thought the originals were a bit dull with no real voice to them. These were on a semi acoustic mind.  The TV Jones made a lot of difference - brighter and more dynamic with a bit more growl, but I bought a neck and bridge set.  You'd be looking at just the bridge pup I think.

I guess it depends on how much you really want to play the bass as to whether you think the upgrade is worth it!
