Did you see the single cut bolt-on 4 that is also in the stock section of the website? Although my birthday isn't until January, I've got some (for me) important stuff to do in June so if I really liked a stock bass I've got permission to get it early! If so, that's an astonishingly good bass, even by Jon's standards. The neck is fantastic. I've played it a couple of times when I've been up there, and it was this bass that made me decide on the Delano hybrid system. Give Jon a call, and pop over to give it a try! Buying from stock you will get an excellent deal on price as well - cheaper than a build to a new spec. In passive, the bridge pickup runs single coil, and you have a volume/volume/passive tone control. So essentially a traditional Jazz set up. I was blown away by the passive tone as soon as I played it. Switch to active and the bridge pickup reverts to MM humbucker which gives a very good Stingray tone (not identical, as the pickup is placed nearer the bridge - I suspect it would be spot on if it was in the Stingray sweet spot). That's the set up I use most live as it will cut through pretty much any mix. So a very versatile set up which I would highly recommend. About the only thing it doesn't do is a traditional Precision thump - but I've got three Precisions for that! Buckeye Burl top with matching headstock faced front and rear , swamp ash body, maple neck and Birdseye board. Electronics are Aguilar DCBs with the East-UK pre-amp. I didn't want a cluttered rear, so no battery compartment but an active/passive switch on the front. The tonal range is huge. I got this after getting a Shuker 2 years back from Cotswold Bass and knew immediately that I wanted to commission something. Oh, and the rear control panel cover is cut from the body wood rather like Elricks or FBass. All round a stunning piece of work from Jon ? David PS - my existing Burl Maple Horn is up for sale here.
