Six String Madness

Recommended Posts

The rear volute has been sanded down too. It's obvious.

In this condition, it's  worth 200 Euros. Don't be afraid to offer this amount, if the bass pleases you of course. And you'll get home with it.

Yeah I thought the same looking at the pictures, although it hard to tell from that angle with the low quality photo. It would explain why the price is so low, comparatively at least, as there's pretty much no second hand market here so things retain their value.

Thanks for the advice.

I shall have to give it a good inspection.

I have a feeling it is both designed and therefore good for metal.  Be sure to play it to make sure you like the sound.  I loved the look of these until I played one and both the build quality and sound weren't what I expected.  BUT YMMV!

Well I took the plunge.

This thing looks, sounds, and feels absolutely superb! Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice.I just need to learn to play it now. 😂

Picked up locally for just over £200. I'm calling that a bargain!

Welcome to the club, @Newfoundfreedom! Have a go at playing the stuff you already know on it first and you’ll get the hang of it in no time.

Or maybe a bit longer, YMMV 😬

Thanks. I'm getting use to it already. The LTD fits under my fingers perfectly, and the neck is a dream. It's actually really easy to play. Just need to learn and practice all the nice chordal stuff now.

Jolly good, pleased for you.  Glad my gloomy predictions came to nothing!

I'm a metal head at heart anyway, so I've always preferred the look of the rock type bases. Just a personal taste thing, but I can't stand Fender style guitars (purely aesthetically can't argue with the way they sound) to me they just bland, with a side order of meh.

The build quality is superb. As is often the case with far eastern factories, the quality control is not always great, so quality tends to vary, but this one seems to be one of the good ones. Also, to be fair this thing has a very wide range of tones even as stock. More importantly, it's a good lump of wood, and the neck is amazing. So it's  a good bass for modding if I feel the need in future. With a pup and preamp upgrade it would be an absolute monster! I reckon this one's a keeper. 😁

This one was also on my radar. Looks like a lot of bass for the money, and they seem to have been well liked from the information I can find. Could be a good buy for someone in the U.K. Especially if you can pick it up at the auction start price.

I'm actually currently in the market for 6 string, but they're all way too rich for my blood.

If you can find one, the old Tobias Toby Pro-6 is a great bass.
