On bass I’ve been on flats for the last 4 years but toying with switching one of my basses to rounds. How do Nanoweb bass strings compare against other brands for feel and perceived tension? I found the Elixirs a little more tension but nothing i couldn't get used to very quickly. (40-100 gauge). Long lasting and i might end up going back to them on my Sandberg VM4 from the flats. la bam Posted January 3, 2020 Author Share Posted January 3, 2020 Turns out the new strings are fender 7250m which I believe to be nickel? Super bright. REALLY bright. They're ripping my fingers to shreds though! (I think I've gone soft after using flats!). So I'm kind of in two minds. I'm tempted by the daddrio chromes (because of the brightness) but it's an expensive gamble at £40. Do the chromes really sound that bright? I’ve always found the 7250 strings to be pretty smooth compared to some other nickels, Ernie ball for example. Then tried Sandberg stainless with my Sandberg and found them smoother again and cheaper than the nickels. I guess its a bit of trial and error.
