AndyTravis Posted December 1, 2019 Share Posted December 1, 2019 I’d probably suggest they blew the promotion money on that video and couldn’t afford to push it 😂 It’s an innocuous enough tune, sort of Def Leppard Esque but without that “x-factor” which made DL the household name. My mate bought the CD bought it was fairly throwaway stuff IIRC. Edit : I've just tried to look it up and if it was Thunder that they supported then the gig was December '90, popular rock was about to change in a massive way. Thunder themselves pretty much disappeared once grunge came on the scene (they later broke up at least twice IIRC). However, these days, Thunder seem bigger than ever - timing is everything. Radio play changed overnight. I saw No Sweat on a headline tour...oooh, 1990/91ish and thought they were excellent. Didn't even manage to crack the top 20 in the UK singles chart. Which is pretty surprising, even taking into account that a lot of people had the track through buying the album. If one can believe Wikipedia (I'm still a bit doubtful), it saw mild success (#59 or #62 on Billboard) in the USA when it was released the second time, in '76 of all possible years, but saw no success in the UK. Only the Gods of Pop know the answer to that question. Always thought the singer had an uncanny resemblance to Dr Zachary Smith from Lost In Space. They featured two bands Cruella de Ville (playing Gypsy Girl) and The Bankrobbers (playing Jenny). How neither of these bands went on to have long and illustrious careers is beyond me.
