nottswarwick Posted November 30, 2019 Share Posted November 30, 2019 So, I’ve got an old Yamaha BBn4. A few years ago I took it apart and rebuilt it with GandL Jazz pickups. It’s quite nice, but I noticed recently that one of the bridge screw holes in the body is stripped so the screw won’t tighten properly. I am intended to do the toothpick and wood glue fix that works for strap buttons, but just wondered if anyone had a better idea? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted November 30, 2019 Share Posted November 30, 2019 (edited) I just use cocktail sticks - cut off the pointy end and jam in as many lengths of the stick as possible in without using glue. Not sure whether its better or worse than any other methods but I've never had a bridge fall off. chris_b Posted November 30, 2019 Share Posted November 30, 2019 For the size of hole you are dealing with, matchsticks are big enough to force the screw to bite into the now reduced hole size. I like cocktail sticks as the wood is harder than matches, and have often used them like you, without glue.
