It's used for accurately measuring and thicknessing instrument boards, tops in particular. Was a little sticky when I took it out the other day, have lubricated, it's a lot better. May need a small amount of new-owner fettling so it opens and closes smoothly. FREE to a maker - may request post as it weighs a bag o sugar or so.
